Rainbow fluorite brings bands of purple, green, blue and clear together in a single stone. Its name comes from the Latin fluere, "to flow", and it gave its name to fluorescence, because many fluorite crystals glow under ultraviolet light.
It is associated with clarity, focus, order and a calm, uncluttered mind, which makes it a favourite for study and for anyone new to meditation. Its mix of colours links it with the heart, third eye and crown chakras.
Rainbow fluorite is also linked with learning and making decisions with a clear head. The Romans prized fluorite cups, which Pliny the Elder wrote about in the 1st century, and the banded Blue John fluorite of Derbyshire was much loved in Georgian England.
